I always check tire pressure before taking a ride, it's easy with the FOBO system. Sometimes I check just for the hell f it and yesterday I found the front tire at 28.6 lbs instead of the normal 36. I filled it up and looked it over good to see if I picked something up the last time I rode. I hit a turkey buzzard but that hit the fairing and there was zero damage! Nope, tire looks fine.
Today I checked and it was at 26.1! Sprayed soapy water all over the tread area and didn't see any bubbling so I hit the sidewalls. A small section at the edge of the rim produced bubbles. Grrrrrr! So I removed the wheel and took it to the indy around the corner. Tire looks good, hope there's nothing wrong with the rim. No obvious marks on it and it's not bent at all.
I use Ride-On tire sealant and balancer but that doesn't hit the rim of the wheel so it doesn't "seal" that area.
I have been using a spray on wheel cleaner but that says safe for all wheels and really how would it damage just the rim where the tire bead is?
It's always something!
Ride safe all.
Check the stem too, that was the source of a leak on a tubeless wheel on my bike...discovered that because it was leaking slime I'd put in the tire.
Bead sealer can help in some cases, like when an aluminum rim has some corrosion in the bead area. It goes on with an included brush and any excess is easy to clean up, it peels off when dry.
I should have worded the thread title differently as it sounds like I'm saying the leak was from nowhere, what I meant was all of a sudden without having any apparent reason.
Happened so fast, he was out of site on the right side of the road down a bit of an embankment and took off as we approached. Hit the fairing and slid across it then across the road. I still can't believe that there is absolutely no mark at all on the bike. Glad he didn't get a little more lift and smack me in the chest or face!
