After reading a great deal of very informative information on this forum I have found that there is wealth of knowlledge to be had on here. I have been trying to bleed my brakes for the past several days after sending off my OEM master cylinder to chrome. After numerous failed attemps I finally started searching on the forum for something that I originally thought would be a simple task. Mityvac was the awnser! I went today and found it at Autozone for less than $30. After a short read through the directions on brake bleeding, I had my brakes done in roughly 15 minutes. What a tough job made easy thanks to Mityvac.
So there's my two cents worth to anyone having the same issues I was.
Thanks for the info- thats what the forum is all about! I'm bleeding mine tomorrow (chrome parts). I have a mighty vac I bought on Ebay a couple of months ago. Looks easy enough right?
I've got the same pump in MiniVac kit #7000. As it turns out, I ran out of time (chrome switch housings) and didn't get the brake side changed. Will be finishing this weekend. Do you guys bleed the master cylinder before connecting to the brake line (and then bleed the line)?
Buddy of mine owns a custom shop and said he has so many people bring there bikes to him to "finish" bleeding the brakes because they cant get it done. Here is what he told me and its the way I do it now. Start by loosing the fittings closest to the master cylinder, when you get the air out go to the next one in line. Then bleed with the bleeder last. Its simple and I didnt have to buy another tool.
Fianlly installed new front brake cylinder, bleederes and banjo bolts. Just for grins, starting the bled without the vac. Brake lever WOULD NOT pump up- zero- noneski. After about 100 strokes I used the bleeder. COuldn't believe the volume of air that sucker pulled out. Took me about 10 minutes oer side and almost a whole bottle of DOT5. WOuld have taen forever without the VAC bleeder...
