I'm thinking about getting some custom wheels for my 09 SG, but after reading alot of threads on here I'm a little confused.
What exactly does it take to swap wheels? It seems like everyone who's commented on doing this also talks about bearings, rotors, etc.
Can you switch just the wheels and reuse everything else? or no?
I was actually thinking of going with the same size of forged wheel if that makes a difference.
New wheels normally come bare, without bearings or any other hardware. So yes you should be able to swap everything over, which will include removing the bearings from your wheels. If you want to sell the wheels you take out it might be better to leave the bearings in and buy new for your new wheels. Shame your SG wheels won't fit my old bike - I really fancy a pair!

I guess so! The more of them buy chrome wheels or fancy custom ones, the more there are for us less well off types to buy their cast-offs secondhand! I have just bought a low mileage 2007 wheel for my old bike.

When I got the wheels for my DYNA from HD, they came with bearings pre installed. I'm one of the guys that also changed the rotors and pully (just for looks), but if you intend to reuse the rotors and pully, consider new hardware. I think HD recommends that the rotor and pully bolts not be reused.
If you are buying a forged aftermarket set, you shouldn't have to swap your bearings. The wheels we make come complete with hubs and bearings installed and are designed to use your stock wheel spacers. You can either use your stock rotors, or you can buy matching rotors. It's all up to you. All you will really need to do is swap your tires if you go with your stock size or mount new tires. The wheels are designed for your specific model, so you can just pull your stock wheels off and bolt in your new ones. Let me know if you have anymore questions
