Hardened steel in H-D rotors?
Now I'm thinking maybe I could keep the ABS and install the floating rotors.
Which leads me to my question: How hard is the center portion of a H-D floating rotor?
See, what I want to do is take the front left rotor's "tone ring" and mount it on the center portion of a floating rotor. The rotor I want to use has a solid black disc in the center (Classic Black, Part No. 46778-09)
Would it be difficult to drill 5 small holes in, in order to mount the tone ring?
I have access to a drill press and would use the old rotor as a guide, using the rotor mounting holes to align the rotors and drill through the tone ring mounting holes. Can this be done by an "Average Joe" like myself? Would a machine shop be a better choice to have ths work done?
Thanks in advance for replies, opinions, suggestions...
