Default Converting rotors to use ABS tone ring

I have a 2005 FLHTPI that is equipped with Harley's first generation ABS that uses a slotted wheel called a "tone ring" to monitor wheel speed.

I wanted to swap to floating rotors, but retain use of the ABS.

After getting the new rotors, I used an air grinder to grind the rivets holding the tone ring to the left rotor from the back side so as not to damage the tone ring.

Then I bolted the old and new rotors together using the mounting holes.

Using the rivet holes in the old rotor as a guide, I drilled through them into the new rotor on a drill press. I also had to make 10 little round cutouts to clear the ring of large rivets that float the rotor.
A Dremel tool worked since I didn't have to go very deep.

It was a simple matter to find some buttonhead screws to replace the tone ring rivets.

I blasted and painted the tone ring to blend in with the rotor.

Now it's not as noticable and I can replace the rotor if needed in the future.

Hi Cage. Great job converting that rotor. I am going to be doing the same thing. Only question I have if you don't mind is regarding the mounting bolts.
Did you have to tap the rotor for the new bolts or did you back them with nuts? If you backed them with nuts - did you have enough clearance behind the rotor when mounting it? I would think that the nuts would touch the mounting hub face. Did you use red or blue threadlocker?

You win the prize for thinking out side the box and coming up with a way to solve a problem. You are truly what HD use to be about.
