Default Wheel compatability?

I just bought a 1997 Low Rider but it's got a completely different front end. I believe the trees are Fat Boy(year I don't know), and RK forks, wheel, brakes and fender. The rear rim is stock I believe. I'd like to get a matching set. Is there a stock model that will have wheels that will fit both the front and rear on my bike? I really like the solid wheels that the Fat Boys had on them but don't know if they will fit. If you need any more info/pics about my bike let me know and I'll find out? Thanks.

Thanks. Now if anyone knows if a rear wheel off a softail will fit on my 97 Dyna that would help? And if so what years? Are the pulley and rotor bolt patterns the same? Is the axle size the same?

I'm still trying to figure out what will fit my bike. Can anyone tell me if this looks like a stock 97 FXDL rear wheel? The reason I question it is because of all the spacers that were on the 3/4" axle when I took it off. Plus there was a 1/4" spacer under the pulley. If I can figure out what this wheel is off of I can get an idea of what to replace it with.

Also most of the wheels I find for sale are either up to 99 or 00-06. What changed in 2000 that makes those wheels not work on the older models?

That wheel would be a sportster or maybe softail rear wheel. To my knowledge, dynas only had mag or spoke wheels stock. You can run any wheel 99 or below with a 3/4 axle and up to 3.5 inches wide. The difference in the 00 and up wheels are the pulley center hole size and brake rotor hole size. Also in 2000 they went to sealed bearings.

Thanks for the info. I couldn't find this wheel on any bikes like mine either. Could a new style wheel be run on my bike if I used a new pulley and rotor? I might have to make some different spacers but that's ok. Are the newer wheels wider? I'd like to get a wider tire and it looks like the only clearance issues would be with the belt but I could space that out or find a narrower belt

I think you'll find the wheel width stayed the same right through to 2007. FXD97 mentioned larger centre holes for pulley and rotor and change of bearing type. From around 02 they went to 1" bearings (certainly on touring models) but the bearings are interchangeable with 3/4". Something I have found on my Glide is that the later pulleys are spaced further away from the hub than on earlier wheels, but they still line up with the old gearbox pulley.

Simplest thing would be to get an up to 99 wheel. A later one may involve a challenge!

I don't mind challenges. I'm painting a 2000 Ultra right now and the guy is changing his wheels so he's going to bring me his old wheel and I'm going to try it out.
