I'm making some front fork changes along with a new wheel.
Can I put a pair of late model Brembo calipers (left & right) from a 2008 and newer, non-ABS on my 2007 fork lowers? I know they'll fit on the fork legs.
Will my stock 2007 master cylinder and brake lines work?
not sure if the 07's had the 9/16 master or not, but you can pick those up cheap on ebay - i paid like 30 for mine when i swapped my roadstar over to a 6pot.
and rotors went to 11.8 instead of 11.5 - which prob would work but will have some odd pad wear lol.
remember that when harley went to the brembo calipers in 08 they also changed the dot 5 vs dot 4 fluid requirements. this may force you to use the 08 and newer master cylinder. is the rotor thickness the same with the brembo brake system vs what went before? rotor diameter might also be something to study while you're at it. i'm going to be doing a similar swap with an old 92 fxr, going to twin brembos for the front there too. if you do use the existing brake lines, i'd suggest flushing them before installing them if the brake fluid isn't the same dot number.
I finished my front wheel swap. I have an 18" Agitator wheel on my 2007 RoadGlide. I had to upgrade to the 2008 or newer Brembo calipers as the rotors for this wheel are too large in diameter for my stock (2007) calipers. I'm using my stock master cylinder and brake lines and DOT4 brake fluid with no issues at all. DOT4 was specified for both of these years.
