Default Center post

I have the Classic HD. The center post won't fit fully inside my Road King bearings. In fact, only the metal tip goes in but when I get to the plastic ( not even the metal section of the post) it's blocked. Is this normal? Thanks.

@Mario Cyr The center post was not intended to go through bearings generally. Only the pin at the end of the post will go in the bearing and the plastic plug will rest on top of the bearing. Drop the center post into the bearing then lift the hinge arm to the stop before tightening the ****. This will pre-load the center post between the wheel bearing and the frame of the machine. The pin in the center post is eccentrically located for more wiggle room.

the harbor freight unit needs to be modified a bit to do tires. There is youtube videos about this and what everyone has done to make it work. I purchased the whole setup and it sits in my basement cause i just have not put in the effort to make it work. My friend has a shop and I just now bring the wheels over and we are done in like an hour.

Way too old for that ****. When I first started my bike shop I did it that way. It wasn't long before I bought a pneumatic tire changer. About $900. Not a whole lot more now. A little pricey if all you're going to do is your own tires though. I still use it at 70. It makes changing trike tires a breeze.

I tried my HF on a old front wheel I have laying around. The post doesn’t go through the bearing. I guess you have to take the bearings off or modify the pole.
