I am looking to buy a 17 x 5" wheel that comes with 25mm bearings and spacer sleeve. i am looking to put it on my 2003 Dyna Lowrider. The wheels fit an 07 sportster just fine. is the bearing Outside Diameter the same on 25mm and 3/4" bearings? or another choice is to convert my 3/4" axle to 25mm axle. Any help is greatly appreciated. I know the front 21" wheel will fit but the rear is a going to go from 3" to 5" wide rim. I'm going from my stock 150/80/16 to a 160/70/17 so the tire width is not an issue " I hope". It seems like a simple swap, but nothing is ever too simple. Sorry for the long post any help is greatly appreciated specially if some people have don this...
My understanding is that recent Harley wheels will accept 3/4", 1" and 25mm bearings, they are interchangeable. Check with the wheel maker if their wheel accepts the other sizes. If they are genuine Harley, check with your local friendly dealer! They should also be able to supply the conversion kit referred to by Baeseman1.
thank you so much for your help. I will call the stealership tomorrow and further inquire on the fitment. The guy I'm getting the wheels from tells me he mocked them on a '07 sportster and they fit fine with the 25mm ID bearings. According to the kit number and description I'm assuming it will fit.
Wheel Installation Kits
Once you select your wheel style, select the Wheel Installation Kit designed specifically for your motorcycle. Kit includes the bearings and spacers required for installation. Requires separate purchase of brake rotor mounting hardware and sprocket hardware. Accessory rotor kits include mounting hardware.
So did the Harley installation kit work because Im trying to put 3/4 bearings in a 25 mm sportster rim to put on my 2001 FXD and Im hoping this is the answer lol

The Harley Kit does NOT work for what you're trying to do.
You can use some 25mm to 3/4" reducer bushings with some custom wheel spacers.
Hmm ... in what respect do you think they would they be "unsafe"?
Also you could install the stock 3/4" 01 FXD bearings in the 25mm wheel along with the same width center spacer sleeve used in the 25mm wheel. The 3/4" are wider than the 25mm bearings so they would protrude only slightly. You would then trim down you existing wheel spacers to compensate fro the protrusion

at that point couldnt I just trim the center sleeve and push the bearings in flush?? of is there a way to ?? And idk how it would be unsafe but Im just worried because of all the space between the center sleeve and the axle. Could it cause the
bearing to fail
