Anyone know if I could use a long enough piece of all thread and a swivel end as a quick fix? Dealer said that they can't get me a push rod, I have to buy the whole assembly(pedal, peg mount, and rod), and they want to charge me $115 for it. I would rather just convert to forward controls, but my budget right now won't allow $300-$400 bucks for that.
Sure, as long as it operates smoothly. Might want to grind or file off some of the threading. Things like this make it Your bike. Keep saving up for the forwards.
Brad,
Mototrcycle swap meets are a great place to pick up parts like that.
Any motorcycle swap meets in your area?
Not that I know of right now. They Army is dumb, and made me take the BRC before I could start riding, so I'm just now starting to ride again, haven't met many people or groups around here in El Paso yet.
To be honest Brad, taking the BRC is the best thing you could have done.
I have been riding bike since I was 17 (I was 48 when I took the course 4 years ago) and I did not realize how many bad habits I had.
It made me a very much improved rider.
Keep practicing all you learned (countersteering, braking, SEE (Search Evaluate, execute, etc),so it all becomes automatic.
It has saved my life a few times.

I completely agree! I took the course when I was 19, and it taught me alot then, and it was a good refresher! I did find myself getting a little bored riding a little 250cc Kawasaki Eliminator though...kinda felt sorry for the poor bike haulin my big butt around lol
