Default Brembo conversion - 2008 Fatboy ?

Has anyone converted their Fatboy to Brembo brakes? If so, what parts (calipers, rotor) did you use? Thanks, Chris.

It shouldn't be too much different than the Dyna conversion. I could be wrong though. Another member used stock touring Brembos. He then increased the stock 11.5" rotors to 11.8". He says they work great. He also tried using different washers as spacers for centering, but he found that straight on worked best. I know brass washers are available and are thinner. Hope this helps some.

Thanks for the reply. My big concern with the conversion is using parts off of a bike with dual front discs. How does the master cylinder handle the volume when working with only one calliper? Do the Dyna callipers bolt directly onto a Fatboy?

I am also thinking of switching brake fluid to DOT 5 since HD can't seem to make a brake reservoir that will not leak and ruin the paint. This would have to be a top down rebuild of the calliper and master cylinder and replacement of the brake line (I want a stainless steel braided line).

I believe the brembos are only DOT 4 compatable. The difference in pressure comes from the master cylinder, not the caliper. You are fine with using one rotor if you have single disc now. The dual disc uses a different master cylinder.

I did the Brembo conversion on my dyna which is a dual disc bike. Therefore I used the same master cylinder however if you still have the stock master cylinder 9/16" bore use that master cylinder (as opposed to 11/16" bore which is for dual disc). The rotors that the Brembo calipers use are 11.8" as opposed to the stock 11.5" on your bike and if you want full pad coverage get an 11.8" rotor. I did use the Brembo's with the stock 11.5" rotors for a while and it still stopped far better than with the stock calipers. The calipers should bolt right up but ZI am not sure on the caliper bolts. On the Dyna I needed the Brembo caliper bolts as they were different lengths. I also recommend going to a steel braided brake line at the same time along with some Lyndall Z plus pads. If you really want to improve your braking get some Lyndall Lug drive fully floating carbon composite rotors. I added them ad this bike stops like a sport bike. 1 finger will take care of all my braking needs.

Here is the write up I did on the install of the calipers and second is the write up on the rotors.
