Default axle diameter

What diameter axle does a 97 electra glide have? Is it a 1 inch axle? Let me ask this in another way. Will a wheel off a 2003 glide fit on a 97 glide without any major alterations?

Your bike has a 3/4" diameter axle, the 2003 has a 1". In addition, your bike has tapered roller wheel bearings and the 03 has ball-race bearings. The significance of that is the central hole in your current pulley is smaller than the spigot on the 03 hub and won't fit, plus on the other side of the hub your rotor is a different design and won't fit the 03.

I have a later rear wheel on my bike, but that involved changing the swingarm and using a later brake as well. So no, it won't fit except with a lot of effort.
