From what I can see it looks like a weld failure. Would like to see better pictures of the failure in the weld. There may be a spot where the welded area that you see is much thinner than the rest of the weld. In this area tale a look at the color of the fracture and see if there is a dark spot. This would be a crack start that had time to oxidize. That will be the spot the crack started. With the way the bead of the tire loads the rim under pressure it is acting as a jack to pull the wheel apart. Once the crack starts to run it can go very quickly as in your case. Did structures work and failure analysis for 10 years and have seen lots of these type of weld failures. A quick read on weld cracks. http://www.welding-consultant.com/WeldCracks.pdf
