Default Tire replacement question

Currently riding a 2006 Police Road King with Dunlop MU85B16 rear tire. The tread looks more like a tattoo than tread so I would like to replace this with a Metzeler ME880 140/90-16. Since I don't have a passenger I would think the slightly larger aspect ratio should not be a problem. Any thoughts before I pull the trigger?

I have hear Avon tires a real good as well. Thoughts?

I am also an Avon fan, been using them on my Harleys since the 70s! The MU is actually 140/85, so a little smaller in rolling diameter than a 140/90, but other wise they are a straight swap. An Avon Cobra of that size should fit a treat! Metzelers are also very popular on HDF.

No problem, you can actually do a 150/80/16 on that 06.

Great thread! I want to go with Avons on my 04 Ultra Classic. Anybody have a favorite place to get them and what Size would I need as a replacement on the rear and front I guess? My HD D402 on the rear is on it last leg.

TJ, you want Avon Cobras in 130/90 for the front and either a 130/90 or 140/90 for the rear. In my experience you will only get a 150/80 in with a narrow belt (1 1/8" wide).

I just experienced a tread separation on a ME880 installed on the rear of my 08 SE Ultra with less than 5k on the tire. Will not get a ME880 again! I don't know how their new 888's are though.
