Motorcycle tire manufacturers produce tires, which they advertise as specific for front or rear. Size not withstanding; is there any difference in the construction of a front or rear tire?
I’m doing a custom bike and want to mount a Metzeler 880, 140/90-16 on the front. Yes I have the proper rim size and front end clearance for this size tire. Metzeler produces this size tire but only advertises it as a rear tire. The tread pattern is the same as their front tires so what’s the difference?
Is there a side wall structural difference or is listing tires specific to front or rear a marketing tool simplifying customer shopping.
