Question Help with tire sizes

i did a search for tires and am now a bit confused, i have a 06 flhr and original tire size on there is mu85b16. what i cant understand is i keep seeing a three didgit # on some sizes. i think the dunlop e 3s is what i want. but, now i see there are bias tires and radials. can somebody shed some light for this dumb *** looking for a good rear tire.

If you are going with the E3's you can get the MU90B16 rear and MT90B16 front

The size you want in an E3 is an MU90-16 bias ply. The specs are almost identical to your original MU85B-16 402.

E3s are pretty impressive: great handling, high mileage, reasonable price. Just changed my second rear E3, highly recommend.

Oops, Bias for your 06, the rads are for the GWs but will work on late model TCs with the wider rear tire.

An MT is nominally 130mm wide and an MU is 140mm wide. The MU85 is 85% profile, the MU90 is 90% profile, in other words a little larger in diameter (90% of 140mm) than an MU85. Avon make an MU90 equivilent, but also a 150/80 of the same load rating that may go in there, just to give you another option! It has almost identical rolling diameter of an MU85.

E3s also have a higher load rating than OEM Dunlops
