Default Is 29K too many miles on a front tire???

I bought my '98 Heritage almost 3 years ago with 12K on it and it just turned 53K miles. I replaced the tires with original Dunlop 402s when I bought it rear worn and front cracking and at 24K replaced them both again, at 37K and 48K replaced the rear but the front still looks good but when you only have 2 tires is it safe???

I have ridden on the street for almost 40 years I have never seen a tire make this kind of milage and I am just getting worried but I have never rode Dunlops until this bike.

I have to replace my rear tire every 6-7k, but my front tire looks good with 23k. I am going to replace it anyway next time, since it will have about 28k then. Probably some people get a lot more, but I like worry free tires.

My guess is that if you have to ask if a tire with 29k miles on it is safe, it probably isn't.

no way, jose...replace it. i have been thinking that the majority of us use 2 rear tires to 1 front tire. why not buy a softer compound front tire to hold the road better, and have both front and rear wear out at the same time?

If not for the miles...than the age. Tires are cheaper than a hospital.
