Commander II problems
Ok guys I put a set on new from the dealership. Front wore out before back at 3000 miles and rear is shot at 5600. No cupping on the tires just wore out. Bike doesnt pull in anyway and tire pressure is maintained at 40 and 42. I am told that if there was problem with the bike causing tires to wear like that I would know it. Mechanics at HD say bike is good. I dont do burn outs or corner hard. What gives?? Did I just get a bad batch?
Thanks..Kirby

I think the Dunlops have thicker sidewalls than the Michelin. So the Michelin probably flexes more, and requires extra psi, to reduce flexing. That is only a guess, I couldn't find any recomendations on this.
I had the same happen to my Michelins...I got about 5000 out of them but the front wore out on the sides not in them middle like the rear. It still had tread in the middle but very little on either side. They werent cupped but just wore out. I did have some of the first ones out but wasnt impressed with the wear. I would love to know how some of the other guys are getting the mileage they are getting...I dont ride that aggressively although I do ride some two up....had the bike checked from front to back by both the dealership and a good independent....
At bike week, Michelin told me that their commander tires would not last but 3000 miles or so on my Superglide because they were radials. He said my bike would get much better mileage from bias ply tires. I'm still on factory Dunlops with 6200 but will need at least a rear tire this year.

I just got a set of the commander 2 tires for my street bob and they are bias ply tires.

I have 9k on my mcll's. The front does look like it is wearing faster than the rear. That seems strange to me. The rear however doesn't seem like it is wearing very much at all. I think I should get at least another 10k miles out of the rear. That would be double what I got out of the stock scorchers. My bike is a '12 fxdb. Stock tire sizes on stock rims. New tubes & rim strips when changed to the mcll's.
