Trailering Question
I'm going to be trailering my 07 flhtcu on a open trailer. I could use some advice on what type of cover ot use. I'm concerned about damage from a loose fitting cover flapping in the wind and rubbing the paint. Any input, suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I thought of that but cringe at the tought of hauling her 1000 miles in slushy winter roadconditions. I just finished waxing,detailing and the bike looks like it just came off the showroom floor. Your idea is probably the best way to go!

I'd have to agree, the slush and salt will still get under the cover and then you'll have some real problems. A protector on the trailer front and the sides would work best. Another option an enclosed U-Haul trailer might be cheaper and easier than you think.

I try not to trailer my bike, but I know sometimes it has to be done...I have an open trailer that I use and let friends borrow. I would check with some friends to see if they have an enclosed trailer you might be able to use. That way it stays clean and secure. Good luck.

I agree with HD Renegade, its best not to cover. It might be worth a few extra dollars and rent an enclosed trailer for the trip. If you use mover mats they will get wet and collect ice and might cause more problems. just my thoughts

Covering a bike on an open trailer would be the biggest mistake you could make. There is no way you could possibly cover it and not have any cover material not rub or flap against the bike causing any damage. Your bike takes a beating on the road when you ride it, so it isn't any different if you trailer it. If the weather is your main concern consider, as earlier suggested, renting a UHaul enclosed trailer. Another consideration is having it shipped. If you do it yourself on an open trailer, just give it a thorough wash down after wards. You would do the same thing if you rode it.
