I posted this in the newbies section but I want someone to see this and hope they have the answer. Last weekend my speedometer, odometer, guge light and self cancelling turn signals all went out at the same time. I'm figuring a fuse, but which one and where? I have a 2001 FLHT. Thanks, Skip
Yea buddy,
Since I can't find your orignal post I will submit my reply here....
First of all I would like a little more information on your ride, but anyways here is an answer.
I have a 2000 Ultra had the same problem. I think I have found why on my ride so hope this helps.
Under the seat there is a connector with three wires on it (white= send pulse fron the tranny red= +9~12 volts and black= ground)
I'm not sure which wire it is that is loosing it's connection so I wired a jumper across all three wires, eliminating the connector.
This brought back to life the speedo, turn signal cancellation and the cruise control. Theory is the connector was loosing connection on one or possibly all of the wires. Look under the seat in front of the battery and you'll see the connector (after removing the battery) At least that's where it is on an Ultra.
Hope this helps.............Tom
I did get achance to check the fuses on the left side of my bike, all of them are ok. Still no spedometer, lights or self-canclling turn signals. I will check under the fairing when I get a chance.
Thanks for everyone's help on this. I followed the scematic and just started looking for wires that might be bare and I found it!! After asking the previous owner fi had any problems. He told me where to look. It was in the wiring harness that runs along the backbone in front of the gas tank. It was the orange with white stripe just in casa it happens to you. Got to ride today not very long but it was great!
