Default Help with cruise control problem....

About 2 weeks ago I had my cruise set on about 60 when it shut off by itself. I tried to reset it but it would not reset. After about a mile of trying I was able to set itagain. Everything has been working fine since the so I figured it was just the bike developing a personality. Well this morning I had it set to 60 again coming to work when I feel the cruise disengage again. I look down at the gauges expecting to see the red cruise indicator but instead I see the green still on! At that point I try to set it again then the light goes red. I kill the power to the cruise at the switch and re-power then try to reset but the light stays red. [:@]

I had the switch installed by the dealer a week after I bought the bike at the beginning of March. I know it's covered under warranty but I would like to have the cruise for this weekend because I have a 500+ mile ride scheduled Saturday (all interstate).

Try pushing forward on the brake lever, and while doing so attempt to engage the cruise. Try again with the clutch lever. Have a feeling it's a microswitch not getting fully released....

HTH!!!

I dont think the problem is in the switch that sets the CC. It's probally the front brke light switch. I had a similar problem with my 07. Mine sometimes would set and sometime not. At other times it would not cancel. Turned out when I changed the grips I had screwed the switch up. It breaks out of the wiring harness and is soldered on. Replaced the switch and that fixed it.

hojones,
I've never had a problem disengaging. If the switch would be bad wouldn't the brake light indicate the bad switch.
