Default Fat Bob with "touring equipment" (loads of pics!)

As mentioned in the "Let's see them Fat Bobs" thread, here's a couple of pics of my (bone-stock) Fat Bob with the newly acquired "touring equipment". I figured I'd get all the "functional" stuff out of the way and concentrate on cosmetic (and way more fun) changes starting this spring.

Each photo is linked to a large version on Flickr, so you guys can check out as much detail as my camera will capture.

For reference, the nekkid bike ...

New, longer bolts to accommodate the sideplates (inside/black) and the bags on Easy Brackets (outside/silver) ...

Detachable windshield ...

MoCo saddle bag with Easy Bracket to make 'em detachable; atm there's no detachable saddle bags from H-D that fit the Fat Bob ... btw, the brackets fit the factory holes perfectly, no drilling required ...

Bags on bike ...

Windshield & bags on bike ... starting to get that "old-dude's-bike" look ...

This time with the detachable sideplates, luggage rack, medium low sissy bar (the only one that fits the Fat Bob), the whole shebang ...

Close-up of sideplates, rack, sissy bar ...

Different perspective ...

Front view ... shows the only "disadvantage" of the Easy Brackets, they create an extra inch or so of distance between the saddle bags and the bike ... see the rear shock and the "dent" in the bag ....

phew ... done.

Thanks for the post, the bike dose look like it's slowing down a bit.
But with the bags I could use the bike to do service calls for customers, How much weight will they hold, and are the mounting bolts the same as
bolts for the sissy bar? (I have that coming as part of the essentials kit)

Dean, I'm pretty sure it's 3.7kgs per bag ... am too beat to run downstairs to check atm, but will do so tomorrow morning and report back with the exact number. As to the bolts, the Easy Brackets come with a set of four replacement bolts - they're a bit longer than the ones that come with the detachable sideplates. Surprisingly, they look nicer than the H-D ones.

Rick, the part # for the bags is 79300-06B and the one for the brackets is DNA-L3DB (with detachable sideplates) or DNA-L3 (without detach hardware or fixed mount sideplates).

Great pics; i like the look. The thing I like about it all is, as you mentioned, you get that old dude look, but a few clicks and you're back to the basic bob, kind of a touring bike in a can. For the saddlebags and easy brackets, can you post the part #s if they're not HD, or let us know if they are HD. Again, great pics, I bought the same fork bag yesterday put in same place. I'm probably going with the sissy bar/seat next weekend as local dealer will have 15% off for military. I got to ride a little today. The wife wanted to look at National Xmas tree so I told them I'd meet them up there and cruised up Route 1 to Mt. Vernon Pkwy, traffic was good. Got my 1k service done yesterday and all ready to hit the open road, just need some cruising gear.

Well, to be perfectly honest, it's more like my credit card's been busy ... at the moment, I unfortunately have neither the space, tools or the time to get creative with the bike just yet - the wife and I are gonna get a new house in spring, so getting a lil' workshop going will have to wait until then [] As far as the look is concerned, all the stuff I bought so far is really about functionality and making the scoot as flexible as possible ... the windshield's for cold weather, got the sissy bar for 2-up riding 'cause the wife insisted on a backrest and the luggage rack/saddle bags are for the odd quick shopping run, mini-day-tours and preparation for a 10-day solo tour I'm planning for next year (God, I'm looking forward to that).

Oh, the camera ... it's a Nikon D80 dslr, great toy. Got it for work though, otherwise I don't think I'd have spend the $$$ for it.

Thanks lonewatie, I was amazed, too when I saw all that stuff on the bike for the first time - 2 minutes turns it into a perfect retro-cruiser, take it off again and you're back with the tarmac-eating, two-wheeled pitbull.

That's exactly the reason why I love the Dyna so much ... it's like almost like a bagger when you need it to be, and can be returned to a ... errrr, (sort of) sporty scoot in the blink of an eye - a "bagger-convertible"

I posted the part #'s above in response to Rick's post - the bags are plain ole' Harley and the brackets are the 3rd party Easy Brackets (links above) ... I took advantage of a 15% discount at my local dealer as well, that's why I bought everything at once.

My 1k service is due soon, too ... probably sometime next week (assuming I'll get a slot in the dealer's book) ... how much did you end up paying, if you don't mind my asking?

I went in Monday to schedule my service; the tech told me wasn't very busy that day, and went ahead and squeezed me in. East Coast Harley in Dumfries quoted me $350 for everything. With my 10% mil. discount I walked out with a little over $300. The breakdown is roughly:

$240 for 3 hours labor ($80/hr)
$48 for filter, fluids, gasket, env. fee,
rest in tax

A little steep, so first/last time for them doing that. My focus now is on getting tools so I can do myself in future. In all you should expect $300 to $350 for the service, unless your shop charges less for labor. BTW, I just used regular old oil this time, no syn., as I'll be swapping the oil out again in about 500 miles, then may go to syn. we'll see. For my bag set up been contemplating the biker's friend roll bag; maybe saddlebags down the road should I ever take my boy with me or for a longer haul mutli-day get myself lost in America excursion. Still like to cruise down your way and take a look up close if you're open to that; i can PM you let you know. Enjoy rest of holidays, weather should be somewhat agreeable for us VA folks, at least next couple weeks. I'll check with my military forecaster today see what the outlook is for us.

How is the windshield on your FB, any head buffeting over 70 MPH? I have the same headlight setup on my WG and will probally need the same shield if I get one.
