Default Power Commander No Brainer

Installed a Power Commander on my stock 06 RK over the weekend, loaded the stock map and I have to tell ya the bike responds as if it were 300lbs lighter.Cant wait to do a Stage 1 Already having a hard time to keep my hand out of the throttle..If you were ever on the fence about doing it I would say go for it you wont be dissapointed.

I agree. Been pleased with the PCIII ever since they put it on.

I am on the fence. I have pretty good performance. How did it affect your mpg?

I ordered my set up today from Jaime at Fuel Moto. Got the Rush slash-up slip-ons with the custom wrapped/tuned baffles, the PCIII with matching map, and the K&N 3909 AC kit. He said I should have it by the weekend. He was very busy when I called, but very patient with me, answering all my questions and taking the time to BS a little bit. I can't wait. This has been a very hard decision for me. A lot of research and mental tug of war between this setup and the other onethat I was seriouslyconsidering. I have high hopes for this setup. I do expect the gas mileage to decrease slightly in relation to the richer performance mapping, and the weight of my right wrist.

For those of you worried about mileage, you can re-configure the cruise range of your map yourself using a computer, and there are plenty of threads on the subject here and in the Electrical/Ignition/Tuner/ECM/Fuel Injection forum. For those who will be ordering from Fuel Moto, ask Jamie to "tweak for gas mileage" and he will lean the cruise range a bit, not enough for my taste, though. Jamie's maps prioritize performance and cooling over mileage. There are side-effects to leaning for mileage, like increased heat, but like everything it is a compromise. You can reduce Fuel Moto's values about 1/2 from 1-3k and 0-20% TP, see no performance hit, and probably no cooling problems. I've gone further, but that's another subject I've discussed in many other threads. Again, check the Electrical/Ignition/Tuner/ECM/Fuel Injection forum for more threads on this.

Also, when you get the PCIII installed it's important to zero the throttle position settings (0 and 100%). Attach the 9V battery, turn on the ignition but don't start the bike. In the Throttle Settings window click on "Reset" and hold the throttle to 100% for a few seconds while the large number on the right settles, which should be around 28K. The 0% setting should show about 4k. While everything is still on and connected, return to the main screen showing the gauges and map grid and check to see if 0% shows when the throttle is at rest. Then check it at 100%. If at 99% don't worry about it.

Also, Jamie's custom Rush baffles are highly recommended, BTW.

I installed mine this weekend from Jamie,,incredible difference doesn't fell like the same bike.

On my 08 Road King you don't have to perform the throttle position setting, automatically does this for you. Sure wish they would put that in the directions, couldn't get it to work so onecall to Jamie and problem corrected.

Bob, thanks for this info. I thought about asking Jaime about the leanersettings in the cruise range like you did on yours, then I thought I would rather get a set performance custom base map from him. Then, I was hoping to look you up later for the leaned out cruise range map? Maybe I could talk you into letting me borrow it? Without the onboard switch, couldn't I just change between the maps at home (on the laptop) as the seasons change? I won't have the cash for the switch, or oil cooler/guage setupfor a little while.

I can't wait to get this.
