Default Dunlop Tire "WTF?"

Just picked up my '06 DWG from its 1000-mi Service. One item noted on the invoice, and punctuated by the Service Advisor, was that the front tire was at 4/32 (1/8) remaining tread and they recommend replacement at 3/32...WTF?, over! My pointing out that the bike only has 1000 miles was met with glazed-over eyes and dismissive comments like, "The factorytires come with less tread", and "That's just the way they are", and, my favorite, "We've got a 20% off tire sale going on today!"
When I put it in the garage, I looked and saw it is a Dunlop D402-F ("F" for, "You're FREAKIN' kidding me!?!") I honestly don't remember doing that many front wheel burn-outs!! Anyone else notice such acute tread evaporation with their factory tires?

doesn't sound right to me. my DUnlops (stock) have 6800 and look good. how agressively do you ride? i'd start looking at tires and talking to the dealer about premature wear/warranty.

good luck

Somebody's fudging with the tire gauge. No way with only 1,000 miles. The last bike I sold had 32,000 on the front tire and was still at 4/32".

I was looking at mine today, I've got a little over 13K on it and I'll probably have to replace it THIS year......probably after another 5K summer.

Did they offer a generous portion of grease to slide that tire in...er I mean on, with?

My tires have 8000 miles on them. The center of my rear tire is worn now and I will be replacing it soon. It seemed to wear more quickly from about 6000 miles on. Something is not right with your front tire. I would keep after them and let MOCO know about it too.

Did the treadwear indicator show on the treads? There is a little triangle on the side wall and the wire indicator will be in the treads at that point. I've gotten between 10K and 12K with mine.

Replaced rear tire at 7,500 mile service. Front tire still going strong at 12,000. Expect front will replaced either at the next service (12,500 miles) or at the 15,000 mile service, at the latest. The rear tire will be new again at 15,000 also.
