anyone have the docking hardware on their bike for the quick release backrest/luggage racks? if so id love to see some close up pictures of it from top and side angles.
maskedman, I have it on an '04 Heritage if that would help, but I will not be able to get you any pics until after the holiday. if this will be of use to you, you can contact me via the email address in my profile.
I installed it but I doubt pictures will help. Don't you have the instructions? They're awful 'cause HD wants you to pay to have it installed. If I remember the instructions, you have to figure out which parts are specific to your bike. A would be for the luggage rack for RK, B would be parts for the luggage rack for Heritage for example. Numbered parts were used for the back rest. 1a for example RK, 2a for Heritage. Once you realize which parts are specific for your bike, it's not too hard to do. I had to study the 3 sets of instructions off and on for a day to figure it out. Here's the best I could do with a point and shoot digital camera:
2005 Heritage. Red circle, EZ Bracket saddlebag release lock. Blue circle, luggage rack/backrest release latch.
Be aware that I haven't found a way to lock the rack/backrest. Someone could just flip the latches and walk away with all of it on mine. Not so the saddlebags. They'd stay put.
oops sorry, what i meant to say is could anybody post some close up shots of the docking hardware on the bike without anything attached to it. i want to see if the docking hardware looks good, bad or ok when there is nothing on the bike.
i am trying to decide the best way to make my bike be able to go from 2-up to totally bare as easily as possable.
