Anyone else had this problem on a 06 ???
It tuned out to be just what I thought, the Stator is shot. The tech tested everything and said that the Stator was able to put out juice on one side but not the other. Due to this being a 2006, and they have a different Stator then 05 and before, no part in stock for it. I could leave it, or try to make it the 70 miles home. They told me they could order the parts on Monday, and have them by Wednesday. I left the bike with them and called for a someone to come get me.
I thought that it was very good of these people to take me right in, and check my bike over, and that they could get it fixed and back up and running before next weekend. The folks at the Harley Davidson dealership in Geneva, NY seem like some really good people in my book.
Had I brought/made it home to my local dealer where the bike came from, I would be lucky if they even looked at it before next weekend.
Anyone else have any issues with the Stator on their 06??? Bike has just over 4000 miles on it now.

. Also found a hole in my fuel line inside the tank so my fuel pump pressure was very low causing very hard starting and lean running condition. Mine is in the shop right now.
I am just hopping that it is a freak thing, and that it does not turn into an issue for the 06's. As many post's that I have read on here, I do not remember reading anyone else with an 06 having this problem. The dealer that has my bike said that the Stator in the 06's is a new design.

170 miles - stranded in traffic. Get it to dealer and found that heat sensor was loose. Found that the service manager was a ***** and wasn't interested in taking care of the customer. Acted like I was more of an inconvience.
370 miles - backfire through throttle caused bike to smoke every 3 out of 4 start ups. At 500 miles I wrung it out and the smoking only happened maybe once every 2-3 weeks. Service manager, the ***** that he was, said not to worry, they'll look at it at the 1000 mile service.
1300 miles - Took it to dealer for 1000 mile service and was told by the service manager that "all harleys smoke." I even showed him a photo that all you can see is back half of bike and smoke. Nothing done to correct or find problem causing it to smoke. I'm not talking a little puff of smoke...this is enough smoke to fill half of a single car garage. Was also told there was nothing wrong with the bike.
Took it to dealer for the 2500 service and was "shocked" to see that the service manager had been replaced. New service manager called today and informed me there is something definately wrong with the bike and it isn't running anything like it should. He wants to pull the engine, but wants to wait until Wed. so he can talk to corporate and see if they want to send someone to look at it since this has been going on since the day I bought it. Finally a service manager taking care of the customers.

I'm sorry, but I think Harley is pumping too many bikes out too fast. Their quality seems to be slipping and is very noticable with the 06 models.

I had the very same thing happen. Engine light and Battery discharge light. I made it to the dealer, and the mechanic said the SG doesn't have a battery discharge light....... (That's scary) yes it does..... Anyway after 6 hours of troubleshooting they said they could find anything wrong. The lights never cam on for them and the tester didn't detect anything. I left and 5 miles down the road both lights came on again. I turned around and head back to the dealer. This time they were able to see the fault.... Yes the stator and voltage regulator were bad. Yes, I also hope the is not a repeated issue, as no voltage = getting stranded.

They took maybe 15 minutes or so to figure out what was wrong with mine. I stood outside and watched him (from about 20 feet away) hooked the EMC up to a small box, and then did a few other things. He started the bike up with some sort of meter or something, then he was on the floor in front of the bike. He came out and told me the whole deal. This was the first 06 that they had seen with this issue, he checked for in-stock parts, and they did not have one. He got on the computer and could tell that Harley had the part, and that 3 other dealers in NY state had the part too. He also said that now that they had seen this issus that they would start carrying that part in stock.

You must of had the service manager at the local H-D shop I took my fatbot into...
Yes at 2000 miles I had a voltage regulator go out on my 06' Ultra
Thats what the mech dia. it at anyway
I thought it might have been the stator
The parts dept did not have one in or a stator for that fact either but was able to find one locally about 40 miles away
The dealer had his driver go by and pic it up and was back on the rode about 2.5 hrs later...
By the way that was the only one in a 150 mile radius of the DFW area...
