I HATE drying my bike, it actually deters me from washing it. I'm looking into building a deionizer for under a hundred bucks, but before I do id like to ask you guys if anyone has any experience with them. All it takes is a 10" water filter housing and a deionizer canister with ion resin. I'm posting this here because I trust some of the names here but if it needs to be moved I'm fine with that.
For years I have been using a leaf blower to blow the water off of my bikes and it works fine honestly. I do dry off the tank and the top of the saddle bags and that takes all of 2 minutes to do. my leaf blower was like 30 bucks on sale some years ago.
Yup ^^^^^^^^ same thing.
I have well water and it's hard and full of iron to boot...
I use the HD sun wash that's supposed to help spots and it does compared to some car wash stuff.
Nail it with the leaf blower right after and it's not too bad. Sometimes then hit it real quick with the Harley Gloss. Half hour tops...
Interesting idea you have though...all ears from here.
With deionized water you can wash your bike in the sun and have it dry spot free. One of the reasons I hate washing and drying my bike is because I have to wait till 6:00 pm in the summer to be out of the sun, otherwise I have to rush in the sun. Colorado is very dry with intense sun, spots form VERY fast, like within a minute on my black bike in the sun. Not interested in dry wash or no rinse wash products.

I have been looking at these for the last couple of years, but do not want to fork out the bucks. The water where I live is extremely hard. Hard enough it corroded my dog's stainless steel bowl. I would definitely like to see what you come up with. That's good initiative on your part to design such a system.
I get a kick out all these fancy wash products. for YEARS on many bikes, cars boats etc. Dawn dish detergent with a mild degreaser in it, water, elbow grease, windex or chrome cleaner and my leaf blower. probably using everything that I am not supposed to use, but gets her clean with zero damage to the paint of windshield. oh I forgot the most important thing.... a roll of paper towels (dollar store brand)

I wouldn't use Dawn though. That's specifically the brand of detergent used to remove coats of wax off your paint and the blue one works best for that. The PH is such that it really does work well too. I would use it to wash my cars just before I detailed them but never in between.

but I just ordered almost everything I need to make one for $40 on Amazon. I already have a hose and nozzle and can regulate the flow with a screw in ball valve. Plus you can buy the di resin to refill the cartridge for $10(one lb fills a cartridge). A bypass might be nice but I'm going to start with just the cartridge and filter housing.
