I sold my Street Bob to order a Fat Bob, but I got side tracked and bought a 08 Night Rod Special. Well I have had alittle regret ever since. I found myself visiting the dealer at least 3 -4 days a week just to look at the Fat Bobs.
Well I test rode one yesterday and it was the most comftorable ride I have ever riden. I miss that low end tourqe im used too from my Street Bob. The V rods just dont have it until you reach 5000 rpm.
So now im really torn here, I should have never test rode one. The only thing I like about the Night Rod Special is the look. The Fat Bob has me on looks, ride, feel and sound.
I have been looking into other adds from those selling Vrods and they dont move very well.
Im not sure what to expect from the dealer if I trade. My Vrod is paid for so atleast I wont be going upside down with interest if I go for it.

Wind it up to 7k, lean forward a little (hang on tight!!)and drop the clutch. Shift at about 8500. Do that once through all five gears. Next go find the twitiest road you know and straighten it out. You won't regret theDX again. The hardest part about riding any V-rod is keeping the revs up. Let it tell you what it wants and give it to it. Welcome to the RHSC Club.

06 VRSCD Night Rod

After going through 3 Harleys in 6 months have you considered a custom? this way you could make your own bike with your own engine done just the way YOU want it... I mean we'd hate to lose a fellow V-Rodder but ya gotta be happy with what ya got... I am a dumbass of sorts I own 3 but they all serve different purposes and they arent going to be sold anytime soon anyway, best of luck to ya on your decision

I've owned a sporty, softails, customs, and now the V. I still don't understand when I read people talk about low end torque, my Vrod has all the torque that any of my other bikes had +. I do miss the sound of the air cooled bikes but I know I would regret going back to an air cooled bike unless I could keep the V along with a aircooled.

I think if you've experienced the real speed the Vrod offers (don't ride it like an aircooled, it loves high rpm's) and you still don't like it, you should go with a custom built bike, then you get to choose a 113" or higher and still have that power of the V and the comfort and sound of other bikes...well at least sound my last custom was not comfy at all

Right...if I take off to fast I spin the wheels and essentially do a rolling burn out almost every time... how's that for low end torque?

Low-end torque is onlyneeded if you pull a trailer.

Unless you're followed by something taking the same line you are there really is no need to talk about "low-end torque". There are some people with a sixth finger, it's "more" but really does no good (unless you're trying to fill a six-fingered glove)

i feel your pain!... ive owned 2 v-rods and im back on the dyna.... im not saying that i wont own another rod one day...
something to think about: the trade in on a v-rod is obscene, sad but true and other than a buell, its the worst....
i took it in the shorts big time when i traded my lastv-rod on a roadking.... in hind sight, i would have been better off keeping the v-rod as a second bike and buying the roadking out right..

whylee if ya ain't gonna use the power, no point in having it. The big Vs are allot easier to ride... you know, none of that dumping the clutch to get her going. But that low-end torque you are feeling... all smoke and mirrors, it will only serve you in first up to about 25mph... then you're past your power band or into second.

That said... I traded my Dyna for one of these, took a hot, haven't looked back. Sure you'll loose some money... but these are way too expensive to be owning the wronge one.

But I would take the VRSC out and really ride it hard. Keep the RPMs around 7k and you'll feel that torque.
