Carey Hart-Built Custom Baggers to Hit Vegas Auction
Former X-Games rider now builds and cruises custom Harleys.
Carey Hart used to ride a very different kind of motorcycle for a living. You may remember him as a bratty motocross kid who was the first ever to pull off a back flip (but not land it successfully) on a 250cc bike. He is no one-trick pony though, now dabbling in racing cars and off-road trucks. But to relax, he likes to climb aboard a long and low bagger and just cruise. Though we’re sure that you can tell from the picture that he hasn’t really slowed down any.
Even better, Hart also builds and customizes H-D bikes and is now sharing some of his prized projects with fellow motorcycle enthusiasts via Mecum Auctions, which is set to hawk some of Hart’s coolest Harleys.
Bagger #1 – 2015 Road Glide Ridden in Sturgis Parade
The first bike is an all-black 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide with red-orange pinstriping and custom satin bronze details. Hart road this bike in the 75th annual Sturgis Parade, for which he served as grand marshal. The motor is mostly a stock 103ci twin cam unit with aftermarket intake and exhuast. If you are adverse to chrome, you’ll love the way he had everything on the bike plated with a satin-finish bronze tone for a unique look.
Bagger #2 – 2016 S&S Powered Road Glide
Hart built this bike, with a 124ci S&S powerplant, in order to take part in the Hot Bike Magazine tour. Not only is it upgraded in the engine room, it has big brakes and a sport bike spec inverted front end. All baggers are heavy, but this one is much lighter thanks to liberal application of real custom molded carbon fiber, which has the added bonus of looking more badass, too.
Check out more of the tour bike here. Both Harley-Davidson motorcycles will be auctioned off in Las Vegas June 1-3 at the Mecum Auction.
