Default Need Lowering info.

I'm going to lower my 14 SGS with 1" lowering blocks in the rear and Progressive drop ins on the front. My question is the progressive kit can drop 1 or 2 inches and I want to know if it is safe to drop it 2" in the front and 1" in the rear or am I screwing up the geometry and handling of the bike. Or would I be better to just do 1" front and 1" back and call it good. Thanks for any replies I appreciate it

Stock you can drop the front 1"

If you drop the rear 1", you should be safe to drop the front 2".

There is a thread talking about lowering blocks recently here....

FYI, there is a brand that should work with the stock coil over premium shocks on the SGS. I used Burley blocks on my wife's SGS and had to swap for air shocks.

It's totally up to you to do this of course and they sale parts every day. But IMO it's unsafe and you will drag, how bad you drag depends on how you ride and what if you had to turn hard. If your not sure go look under your bike now, especially under the floor boards and there mounting brackets. If there are any signs of touching the road now I would reconsider lowering at all. Just my opinion Stay safe

I know a lot of people with lowered bikes like yours and they all complain about the ride... they look cool though.

I have the progressive kit in the front air on the rear. Front is lowered 2". I do not drag even two up. I don't ride mine like a crotch rocket. The only time I drug anything was when I left the rear to low and I touched the cover on the crossover exhaust pipe.

So is what you are saying is that you lowered the front with progressive springs 2" and did nothing to the rear leaving the stock air ride and hieght?

No LilWick is running the DIY Air ride set up. He can raise and lower the rear on the fly

Exactly right. I can go from full drop to full height while riding...and anything in between :-)

Oh I see. So if I want to stay with the stock shocks and height in the back and just lower the front of my 2014 SG, I should use the 1" kit in the front?

Yup. the SGS is dropped 1" already. The 1" drop up front will match it.
