Yes doing it yourself is way cheaper. I did my bike in black and spent about 500. Everything but the engine. Harley wanted 3000 for the parts alone. I did some parts they dont even offer yet. It was worth it. Love the look and get stopped on the road and asked about it all the time.
I got 35 pieces powdered for $284. The tank strip and gas lid from Harley in black would run $300-350. Kinda a no brainer.

I have a black bike, but don't the total 'murdered' out look. I like chrome. I have black forks on the way, and will probably do a chrome exchange on the OEM wheel, and powder coat the remaining parts as I see fit... hoping it wont be too hard to find that balance.
