Default backrest bracket tips?

Just purchased a backrest for my 14 Limited and need to install the non adjustable bracket to my bikes frame. Does anyone have any tips for this installation? I am going to buy a heated Hammock soon, I assume it's OK to install the bracket with my stock seat for now? No need to wait.

Hope I like having a backrest, did not like it on my 07 ( was a Corbin seat and backrest ), most seem to like having one with the Hammock seat.

Just follow the directions that come with the backrest but before you bolt the seat back down, sit on it to make sure the forward / back mounting position of the bracket is in the right position for you. You really won't know until you ride though and obviously you'll need to bolt the seat down. I had mine all the way back, then moved it one notch short of all the way forward, then moved it again back to about the middle. It's perfect there and it looks centered within the opening of the seat. I will tell you that the back rest has been the the best mod I've ever done. I just did a 700 mile ride and had zero back fatigue. I also have the back rest dropped as low as it will go too. Looks better that way and supports your lower back better.

Talking to a buddy yesterday that has the adjustable B/R on his CVO Limited and he, like you, loves it, said it makes a world of difference in comfort...that, along with lighted controls (buttons) are on my short list of improvements!

I have used one for years!! Had a back surgery eleven years ago and have to have it. I had it on with the Hammock when I had one. Decided I like the seat on the 14 Limited and sold the Hammock. One of the best things IMO is a back rest if you are going to ride long distances.

I bought an adjustable backrest but didn't set up the adjustment part on the bike. Took advice from a friend that once you find the 'sweet spot' you really don't need to mess with it. So far, so good on the Limited. I also have one on my '02 RKC and I will not ride either bike without the backrest.

Installed my Hammock seat this week and had the backrest all the way forward with the stock handlebars, but I've now also installed new bars with an additional 2" pullback and and test rode it yesterday. I'm now going to move the backrest back one slot. I really like the additional leg room.

Does the ECM have to be removed to install the rider back rest on a 14 Limited? Or how did you manage to hold the two nuts below the brace while threading in the bolt? Please check out the attached photo. Considering adding a sticky substance to the nut so that it does not slip out of the closed end wrench. If only I had smaller fingers!

How did you guys do it.....Please?

I left the ECM in place and held the bolts/nuts VERY carfully. I didn't want to mess with taking it out. It really wasn't that difficult.

Thank you, that is what I figured, just wanted to make sure I was not missing something.

My backrest has a screw for fine adjustments. Just mentioning it in case you didn't notice one on yours. It's usually covered by the sleeve that covers the bracket.
