Well, I had my gauges modified. LED's and faceplate. I won't badmouth the gent who did the work because he worked with me and in the end, refunded my money.
I now need to get things fixed.
My odometer lcd screen no longer reads anything. He tells me he removes the lcd and sets it aside as he solders on the board. What else would/could cause this?
Thanks! I'd hate to send them elsewhere for fix only to find out the board is screwed.
That's the number one reason I won't send my gauges out for the mod. For the low low cost they charge to mod these, I doubt they make enough to offer a replacement if something gets fried.

It really just depends. He could have overheated it with his iron, caused a short or static electricity, or not got it hooked back up. You might open it up and take a look to see if it's something obvious.
I really don't see how this could have happened. I mean this would really have to be careless on that guys end. Have you opened the gauges back up yet? Send me a message and maybe I can be some help
I opened it up. I'm looking at the lcd screen and am now wondering if it's properly touching the board. My friend is an electronics guy who offered to take a look. I should know more in a few days

Can you send me some pictures? I have done a good number of 2014 sets and have never had a problem.
Ok, here's the update to this story. My gauges are now perfect thanks to kh24. He received my gauges and completely resoldered the crappy first job. He then was able to repair the faceplate that had been damaged during removal. The total job is now a complete success.
In the end, I can't recommend a certain company that starts with "Speed" for gauge work. The quality of faceplates is very low. The soldering job is amateur at best. Plus, he does not have a canbus testing ability to reset the needles to where they need to be.
If you want it done right, send them to harleygaugemods. Joe knows his stuff. Joe finished the job, corrected the job, and went above and beyond. I owe Joe more beer than you can imagine for taking a nightmare and turning my gauges into the dream I hoped for. Thanks Joe!!

Glad I could get it all straightened out for you Jeff. Lets just assume the original vendor was having a bad day because this was pretty hacked up
