Default Boom box/other stuff

Hi, HOG member since 1986 or so. Several Harley's, Norton's, Duc's in the garage. Just took delivery of an Ultra Limited 2014. My 03 Ultra was dressed to the nines, Stage II kit, exhaust,..etc .etc. Will start slow with the new one. Haven't had it on the road yet. Snowing as we speak in NJ. Want to upgrade intake/exhaust. Many different options. I want a better sound though. I have heard that the Boom box needs a reprogram with the additional Harley stuff. I want to go after market with Polk 651mm and a Fosgate amp. Dealership said don't do it because of the reprogramming. They refused to do install. What to do. I could wrench myself, now this "program" upgrade has me spooked. What to do?????

Congrats on the new scoot! You might find what you need quicker in the audio section since this topic has been pretty well covered already..

Thanks for the direction. Good posts, got most of my questions answered. Didn't realize that the 6.5 box has a self contained amp. I'll try to hook up the Polks 651mm and see how they sound without amp upgrade. If I'm happy I'll leave it alone.....for now. Can always place amp.

I agree, the Polks are fairly efficient and the new stereo's power output has been upgraded. Some may not be happy without using an additional amp, but they may suit you fine they way they are.

That is the setup I did with my audio. I had the dealership flash the radio for 2 speakers and 1 amp. Sounds great.

Here is an article from tech support from Rockford Fosgate about flashing the radio.

I haven't done this but am considering an upgrade in the future.
