There is also a phone app that allows you to track connections with multiple riders. Sound quality is excellent but you will need a FF helmet to get the best sound quality with any headset. Wind blowing in your face will not provide the best sound quality. With a FF the version of Sena headsets the version with the separate mike rather than the boom mike is best.
These will allow connections with other brands of headsets when you are riding with a group. Most better quality FF helmets are built with ear pockets to allow the installation of a head set.

Has Sena resolved the issue of the 20S shutting itself off when it gets cold?

I do not have this issue with mine and ride in very cold weather. All NiMH batteries, which all brands use, will perform less efficiently though in very cold weather, thus if you have a low charge to begin with I could see not getting say full talk time or standby time to begin with if it is well below freezing out.

The issue isn't with the real cold. I have read about a lot of guys that were riding in 40 degrees and after about 5 minutes, it would just shut off. Sometimes, they could power cycle it and it would work. Other times, they had to wait a while. All the threads I read about it, Sena was quick to replace their units when sent in for repair.

Here's where I am:

Thinking of buying a quality full face helmet, for the reason of adding a communications headset.

I have a J&M Model, works PERFECT. People don't realize I'm on a bike, doing 65mph when the front is pulled down on the modular helmet.

Future consideration: the wife usually rides her own, but due to finances, she is bikeless, and on the back of mine.

We've ridden for years using hand signals...

Am I farther ahead getting a system that plugs into the Harley, and use the phone through there, or am I further ahead simply going with a Bluetooth unit, and pairing my phone directly?

My phone patched directly into the HD 6.5 system with no problems do date

I have 2 phones that I carry daily, and want to be able to pair both whichever way I go. My Jawbone ear pieces work great for this.... in the truck.

You may need to units (one being the HD unit, and the other, say, a Sena BT as I don't believe it's possible to BT 2 phones to 1 unit

I like that I can see who is calling on the bike screen, but that isn't a deal breaker.

TIA for your thoughts....

well, i ran into the exact same thing as SafetyMan. I sold my harley headset after getting the bike and regretted it afterwards. So, about 2 weeks ago, i went out and purchased the EdSet 3G (edsets.com) which, after about 2 weeks of research, was supposed to be the best of the best (especially with the 'thunderclap' speaker upgrade). i got them in, and installed them in my modular helmet...and it was horrible. i contacted EdSets immediately, and i have to say, they have the BEST customer service i've ever seen. but, the problem still isn't solved. i'm actually shipping my helmet off to them today so that they can do some testing to find out why i'm getting horrible sound out of them. hopefully when it comes back, it will be ready to roll.

Here's where I landed....

I bought 2 SHOEI GT-Air Full Faced helmets, one for the OL, one for myself, supposed to be one of the quietest helmets on the market, and SUPER comfy for me, after a cheek pad swap. I use the chin curtain and breath deflector.

I got a couple of HD stock headsets, 77147-98A.

Installed one of them in my helmet, works perfect. Nobody believes I'm on the bike, and part of my commute is 75MPH speed limit, so.... 80-82 with the cruise set running with traffic.

The 2 phone fix?

Sometimes I try to out-think myself. My buddy gave me the solution.

I have call forwarding on both phones. I typically bluetooth my business phone to the BOOM! on the bike, and set my personal to automatically forward calls to my business phone.

Yeah, works perfect. no flaws, no issues.

I have a nice brand new SENA SMH-10 Dual setup in the box on the shelf. When the wife gets back on her own, she may use one of them, because she will likely be on a Softail. I'm undecided if I will intercom with her, or just have the availability to call her, or vice-versa, if we need to communicate.

We've ridden different bikes together for years, and only had hand signals, so I think we'll survive.

Yeah.

So did I.

He and I share an office, when he said that I just got quiet.

For a minute...

Then I looked him dead and the eye, and said "Go #^@& yourself, ANYBODY can do it that way...."
