There is such a business opportunity here. Make a simple, wireless headset that *just works* and I bet 1/2 the rushmore owners would buy it. This isn't rocket science either as others have stuff working. I use that damned wire every time I ride and can't wait to ditch it.

It's been done, but it requires a module. Harley's radio can't just work 100% wirelessly because their firmware is hamstrung.
You need a module that works with the radio in a wired manner, and then you can link up to the module wirelessly. That's the best that can be done currently.
I guess I'm weird or something but I am very happy with the wired headset supplied with the bike. I plug my phone in, plug the headset in and it all works.
Wife and I both had 07 and 08 UCs I always watch out for her and CB was very handy now we both have 2015 limited hers is low of course and I like having the phone capability on my bike where I used to pull over for important calls from my business but now I can answer on the go and other end doesn't even realize that I'm on my bike.Have been using Nolan helmet with J&M Elite head set since 2009 not sure if new HD head set is any better but the old ones really suck.
You can borrow my g9x and see if it works for you.....
I appreciate it, Buddy!
I'm just going to order a couple of SENA's and then figure it out from there, I guess.

Not saying your weird at all...
But let me ask you a question...
Does your wife ride her own?
Mine does. We got rid of her SGS, and are back in the market-ish for a Deluxe. She rode one for years, and wants another.
I'm not against the stock headset, if someone can explain to me how to gain communication with my wife while riding, and be able to take, or ignore, calls.

No, she rides with me. We both wear headsets and use the intercom all the time. Can't really help with the bike to bike. Good luck.
