Took my new ultra classic for the maiden voyage today, Very impressed although the first thing that happened is the clutch didn't disengage when i put it in gear and obviously it wasn't a good thing. I had to pump the clutch lever for it to work, After i road a while it was fine, Has anyone else had this issue? I'm new to a hydraulic clutch. And haven't ridden in 6 years.

I for the life of me can't figure out why the moco thought the hydraulic clutch was a better idea. I do not like the feel of the clutch on release from a stop. To herky jerky for me. Please bring back the cable for me. Much more predictable.
Guess the feel of the clutch ounce it started working properly didn't bother me i just don't want to hurt the bike or myself if there's something wrong with it. Maybe because it was stored without being run at all for the last couple months?
Harley had 2 recalls on the hydraulic clutch in 10/2013 & 9/2014. Both times the clutch master cylinder was rebuilt. If you experience any problems I would bring the bike to the dealer for inspection/repair. You can go to Harley's website under Owners and check for any open recalls on your bike.

I took mine (2015) back two times because of the clutch issue. Gave up with them. Now what I do is before I leave the house, I pump up the clutch between 10 to 15 times and then away I go. I can feel the firmness changing as I pump it up. After I do that I'm good for the rest of the day.
You would think if there's been issues they would look in to it further, Guess i'll see what my dealers willing to do. Should' have to pump up to get it to work, I's got to be bleeding off somehow.

Why not go to a different dealer?
You should not have to pump your clutch for it to work properly.
I have no problems with mine and I like the feel of the hydraulic clutch...not jerky at all...it will feather like any cable clutch.

I agree. I'm going to try to get to another dealer this week. Honestly I've been disappointed before with this dealer's service department, it's that it's convenient for me distance wise. Looks like I will go to Destination Daytona. They have done good work for me before.
