Question Glow lights

I am looking at putting white glow lights on my 14 Ultra. I looked at the cost of the "motorcycle" lights... not thrilled. Looked at Autozone, etc. looks like I can get what I need for about $60 and do the work myself. My question is, has anyone else done this? Were you happy with how it came out. Hard to tell if the little LED light strip are bright enough. thoughts??

Thoughts from a guy who works on other guys' motorcycles...

A. I don't like LED strips

B. Not my bike, so A is irrelevant

C. If you install them, make sure when parts come off for repair or maintenance, there are disconnects.
c.1. the fuel tank. If you stick them under your fuel tank, don't just hard wire, think about when the tank needs to come off, what happens to my lights
c.2. the horn cover, same as above
c.3. the air cleaner cover, same as above
c.4. the saddlebags, same as above
c. 5, 6, 7, 8... etc... fenders, tourpak, floorboards, seats....

D. I ordered rolls of weatherproof LED strip lights from eBay for $28 each. I think they're cheaper now. WAY less expensive than local auto parts stores. They wanted $99 for the same rolls.

E. They will be bright enough.

I agree with SafetyMan about "C". My brother did the Autozone light kit and it was a mess when I had to work on his bike one time. It got to the point that I gave up and just started cutting wires so I could take some parts off. You might want to check out a vendor known as Joe Florida. He makes some good kits at reasonable prices.

SafetyMan....You are SO correct! I had LED's on my last bike and I made sure there were disconnects everywhere so that I could easily take parts off as needed. The other thing I did was make sure the ones on the bottom of the frame did not come in contact with my lift. Didn't want to crush them on the first lift.

If you get the MAX lights from Autozone, they will be plenty bright. Like Chip said, make sure you have disconnects where needed. I added them for the tank and then left plenty of slack in the lines for the saddle bag supports for when I take the wheels off.

I put lights:

1 6" inside each front caliper
12" left and right side under tank
2 12" under the frame under the tank
1 6" under the air cleaner
1 12" under the saddle bag supports that kind of aim out just a little to spread the light out.

I used a fuse 3 amp to always hot and added a small flat toggle and mounted it to the left mid frame deflector.

I bought all my lights at Autozone along with the switch,, heatshrink, and extra wire for $70. Been on the bike for 2 years and work great with no problems what so ever.

Here you go. I did my ride in red and the wife's RK in blue. I used expandable braided sleeving on all wires and heat shrink to secure the ends. I picked up the switch, fuse terminal shrink and other odds and ends from Fry's Electronics. I don't have any pictures under the seat but everything comes together nice and clean. All the wire is well hidden and tied off.
