Default Air shocks/pump

I purchased the mini pump yesterday from the dealer for my bike, 2015 SG. 0lbs of pressure on rear shocks when I connected the pump and was only able to put 30lbs in. The shocks either wouldn't take anymore pressure or the pump couldn't push more air in, not sure which and maybe a combination of both. I have just over 700 miles on my bike.

Curious about this, any thoughts?

Thx Dave

I do know the pump must be attached tightly for it to work, I would double check that. then be off to the dealer for them to test it on another bike and go from there.

TY, I'm going to try it again when I get home and tighten the pump down a little more.

I use a pump for Fox FLOAT air shox (came with my sled)... You can buy them online for $25.00. It works great - designed to not leak air out during connection, and small enough to carry with you. BTW - if the gauge is reading pressure, you should be able to put air in.

I know it's personal preference, but what poundage are people riding?

Thx!

I would check the pressure with a tire guage to make sure that Your new pump gauge is correct. You may have more than 50 lbs in the shocks.

My guess is that you didn't have the pump connected (snugged down) on the Schrader valve. Screw it down all the way till the pressure gauge gets a reading. You should be able to put air into the system after that. I've had my pump for years and have never had a problem with it. The air shock system does lose pressure over time, but should hold for several weeks anyway. Good luck.

That's what I'm going to try after work. I'm guessing I didn't have it tight enough on the valve.

Thx for the responses, I was hoping I didn't screw up the air shocks in any way.

If the connection was correct, the gauge on the pump may be wrong, causing what Harttoo mentioned.

If that's the case, I'm sure it shouldn't be a problem to swap it out at the dealer.

Solo, I ran 14-15lbs on my 2011, I was 260-265 back then (AND I'm back there now )

Two-up, I ran it up to 25lbs.

If you're not bottoming out, you're not running it too light, and the more you put in, the stiffer your ride. You want it where it has as little air as possible, and not bottom out. That's the mistake a lot of guys make, and the reason a lot of guys find it necessary to spend boo-koo bucks on shocks is they are stuck on numbers, rather than dialing them in.
