Default Stage 1 issue

I posted this on the tuner section but can't get anyone to respond so I thought I would try here.
Here is my setup:
2014 SGS
Screamin Eagle slip ons
S&S air cleaner ( same type of k&n just easier mount system)

Did the SE slip on and air cleaner stage 1 download for 2014/2015 touring.
Went through 5 smart tunes. Bike seemed to be running great at 7500 ft where I live.
Rode to Wisconsin and in the heat the bike would occasionally fart back through air intake when taking off from a stop light. Sometimes it would back fart a second time when cracking the throttle to get going.

Reloaded the stage 1 without doing smart tune to see if that helped but bike was still back farting occasionally.
Acted like it was a carbureted scooter when cold. Also doing it back home at 7500 ft.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Grant.

What tuner are you using?

Someone with more experience can chime in, but I think the different elevations play a role in the problem.

Some people who travel regularly, may have a couple of tunes on their flash tuners to accommodate different situations.

My understanding, one advantage of the TTS I think that is a piggy back that makes the changes on the fly/real time.

My buddy carries his PV with him every where, if he wants to have a day of fun and ripping on it he uses one tune, if we are traveling and its more about mileage he flashes the other tune.

Depending on what tuner you have, and you travel between high and low altitudes, maybe you could have two tunes to bounce back and forth between. Again providing that is the problem.

I hope someone with more knowledge jumps in, I will be watching this thread.

SE Pro Tuner, Does it at all altitudes. The ECM makes some adjustments based on atmospheric pressure to compensate for altitude. Thank You for answering though. I have richened the lower RPM's and also the accelerator but still farts.

too many high elevation down to lower elevation tune issues so you will not get many replies. just saw a real tuner say that high elevation needs more timing, but then again when you come down it will ping. I know that was no help.

This is an indication of too low an RPM when rolling on the throttle OR (and likely your case) too lean a mixture when rolling on the throttle.

It is quite possible you developed a small intake or exhaust leak that is leaning out the AFR.

Thanks Kevin, I went after it again today and actually leaned my AFR from 14.4 to 14.5 at my lower RPM's (0-1750) and cannot get it to sneeze. Am going to keep riding around town and see how it goes. Grant.
Stage I richens to 14.4 AFR
