I had a few errors in a recent route that I planned were I got the waypoint just around the corner on a side street. I'd pass the waypoint and then use the skip next waypoint feature. This works well in many cases unless the unit attempts to reroute you back to the waypoint while it is recalculating the skipping of the waypoint. The recalculation of the route back to the waypoint takes precedent over skipping the waypoint. In an area with a lot of possible routes back to the waypoint the unit keeps recalculating new routes back instead of skipping the waypoint. The only options are to pull over and allow time for the unit to calculate the skipped waypoint or continue on until a large enough gap occurs in possible routes back to allow the skip calculation to complete, a bit of a bother in areas with a lot of side streets.
Yeah, getting the waypoints in exactly the correct spot every time would solve the problem wouldn't it? Too bad I'm not the route planning god you are...
I usually try to do the skip just before I miss the waypoint.
As careful as I try to be, I always end up with one off to one side of the other.
I try to do the same thing. I happened to be in a commercial area with a lot of side streets that provided a lot of loops back to the waypoint when this happened. It's the first time I'd noticed that the GPS behaves that way when it doesn't have the time to eliminate the waypoint.

I had this happen to me last weekend for the first time. It was a bit of a pain. I am pretty good about where I put my waypoints (on the right side of the street) when I am marking a route, but sometimes the BB thinks they are off to the side.
As evidence in your defense of doing proper waypoint alignment I offer the following:
I imported a short route and then used the pre-ride function to look at it, and found one of my way points made me do a U-turn to hit it, and then ride in a circle to get back on course. But when I looked again on Route Converter, it was right where it should be. I moved the waypoint down the road 1/2 a block and tried again, and it worked fine.
On another note, the delay on the routing sometimes makes me think I skipped the wrong waypoint, as it sometimes takes a while to update the map. When I pull up the way points to skip, it just shows the Long/Lat readings instead of the waypoint name. Is there a way to change this?
You have to really zoom in on those waypoints to be certain they are where they should be.
Drives me crazy. I can just speak into my cell phone and get perfect directions on several navigation apps. Planning a route like this should really be easy considering we sent a man to the moon almost 50 years ago.
I keep getting people telling me to use Tyre. I have the same problems with their sight and frankly feel like they might be the folks doing this for HD. Very similiar.
I......

Thank God, its not just me experiencing this (long/lat display). Actually, I think there are at least 4 of us .............
