I think there was the same problem on 2014's.
The dealer did a fix at 1000 mile service, but I will check if once more.

Just checked mine and after 6500 miles is fairly worn through. I booked an appointment this Tuesday to get the wire replaced. Service manager said they will replace the wire as well as rerouting to keep it off of the tank.

It should be. There are thousands of people out there that have no idea about this issue.

Checked mine today & sure enough I had to zip tie the front plug wire from the lip on the fuel tank . With only 1200 miles on the bike however the plug wire was ok however. This is a very informative thread. Thanks !

Took my scoot in for the clutch recall and asked them to look at my plug wire as well after seeing this thread. Mine was really bad at 6000 miles. New plug wires on order and they state they will pull the tank and reroute to stop it from happening.
As many have said, this seems like a dangerous defect, high voltage spark and a gas tank, as well as a serious shock hazard. Thanks OP for bringing this to my attention.

I brought mine in for the clutch recall and had them look at mine. They told me Harley won't warranty the wire unless it's worn to the wire itself. They did reroute and clip it away from the tank for me though.
