Play in trans shift shaft

Play in trans shift shaft
I was going over 2016 SGS at 1,000 mile and noticed the transmission shifter output shaft has side to side play in it. Never noticed this on my previous 6 speed trans. No leak at shaft.Wondering if others have this play in the output shifter shaft?

My '14 SGS had that same issue, by 9k it had to be replaced. Took HD about 20 minutes to replace it under warranty. At 14k now and still no play. I guess the part is from the early 80s and has never been updated. Per the HD dealer they replace quite a few, part costs about 23 bucks.

Yes, I think its normal, my 14 RK been that way from new.
