Swapped fairings out on a 216 ultra road glide the top air vent cover has a gap on both out side edges where it meets the inner fairing .. Is there a trick to popping it back in and making it flush all along it? It's like the inner fairing around the radio is pushed back not letting it seat all the way..???
I recently did the crooked fairing fix and also upgraded the audio. Same as you, I noticed a small gap that you describe between the inner and outer fairing at the top. I was sort of worried, but not much because all my bolt and screw holes lined up without much force. I also looked at another RG at the dealer this morning and it had the same small gap that we are seeing.
Thanks ! I had the painted on and off 3 times and finally put the stock h painted on and it was the same gap.. Pulled my hair out for 2 days and now starting to see its a hit and miss thing some have the gap some don't 👎
I never noticed the gap until the first time I removed and reinstalled the fairing during an audio upgrade. At first I thought I had messed up the re-assembly, but pulled everything apart, double checked everything at it seemed as if everything was properly aligned and buttoned back up.
Rode over to a buddies place who had just purchased a brand new RG as well. Looked at his and guess what....? Same gap
Just a poor fit from the factory, not sure if it is design or manufacturing related but it is there. Just like a lot of other miss-alignment / flush fit issues on our bikes. Take a look at the bottom of the left and right hand switch housings...... On my bike those don't close up tight and flush either.

Mines been on and off a dozen times. Make sure you lift it up as you position the top first, while maintaining pressure at the top, lower it at the rear.
Your switch block misalignment sounds like uneven screw tightening. Loosen both T25 screws and tighten them a little one at a time until the switch block clamps evenly.
