I was in Daytona this last weekend and met with V&H where they re did my fp3 to better from how I had it. They also explained to me I should get an intake since mine was stock.I asked him that once I get the intake do I have to re do the fp3 and he said no leave it alone. I have an rc components air intake coming in which I will install once it arrives. Do you guys feels he's correct that I leave everything alone after the intake install.? thanks
The newer stock intakes breath pretty well; better than in the past for sure so a new hi flow AC won't be much if any different than stock. I auto tuned mine with my FP3 after I added the SE AC but honestly I don't think it made any difference. I'd go with what V&H said to do. Now once I put on the Power Duals, I reflashed the new map and it runs so good now that I probably won't do an auto tune. I think their canned maps are pretty much spot on.

He's there to sell you stuff.
What he says doesn't make sense, why change the intake if it doesn't change the tune.......just for looks I guess.
But, if it does change the tune, why would he say leave the fp3 alone??

I was having the same thoughts? If no re-tune needed why change it out?
I believe that their maps are all made to be run with an after market intake. If my memory serves me they do not list a stock intake in their maps. They will work with stock but should perform better with a heavy breather of some sorts.
Someone posted before that the stock rushmore intakes flow 15 percent better than the old football styles and the aftermarket were 5 to 8 percent better and come alive around or after 3500 rpm

Agree with your statement and how often do we really tour on these touring bikes higher then 3200 RPM which is above 80 MPH. I've discussed with the V&H in Sturgis about it even though he didn't agree but he understood that if you don't have wide open throttle stock AC should provide more then adequate air.
