I just installed these today. Rode an 02 Road King for 10 years and never had a problem with the pins. Had the recall done on my '15 SGS but figured better safe than sorry.

They've been using them 20 years and all of a sudden people can turn and lock them properly? I'm calling bullshit on that.

BigMike..they changed them for a reason. I know from experience that you have to fuss with them to ensure you turn them fully.. very easy to think you've reached end of travel when you haven't. There is no doubt in my mind that some have not fully engaged them and thought they and they would rotate out thru vibration.

Default Cheapest price for the saddlebag mounting brackets

I'd like to upgrade the saddlebag mounting brackets also to the new '17 style (HD part number 90201540) but the cost of shipping is running the price up an additional 15-20$ from the cheapest source I can find and my local Harley shop doesn't stock them. I'm planning to go to Home Depot this weekend but before I do, does anybody have a good source for these?

try Surdyke or boardtracker. I would guess shipping will be around $7. Surdyke has free shipping over 149 and board fracker had $5 shipping on 250 or more.

You can can also have your local order them for you.
