I liked the "thumb screw" style on the new 2017 bag mounts. The "one" twist is easier, but there are times you hope they stay locked. I wonder if Harley P & A will have a kit to retro my 2015 FLHTKL?
I think I would only by 2 screws and 2 threaded retainers if I was worried about losing a bag. Having 1 on each side would give you plenty of protection, but not get in the way. I've had these clips since 2003, I now check them regularly because of the recent vendor issue.
Bolt them on. Nothing protrudes and it takes about 2 minutes to remove them. Also, if you leave your bags unlocked, a would be thief would need a torx bit to remove them.
I bought these. I only put them in the front 2 holes. They provide plenty of support and don't take up any room. I have seen (twice) a bag fall off on the highway and it isn't a pretty site.
