I enjoyed my 2016. If 2017 had been just another 2016 I would have not let it go. I am sure the new owner is enjoying it.

My truck is an 06, GMC. 63xxx miles on it. I have had five bikes I have put over 44xxx on each since I bought the truck.

I have a 14 Stingray with 12,953 miles on it, my 17 CVO street glide has 7212 miles on it, 3 years vs 3 months. The Corvette I got rid of was an 1980 I had for 31 years.

So no, keep vehicles a long time, but don't put lots of miles on them, bikes are usually traded at 2 years unless I'm keeping it like my 03 Fatboy and my 13 King, no intentions to sell either.

The 17 CVO may be traded at a year if a CVO Road Glide come out.

If it doesn't have a carb, I don't want it.

I'm sure the M8's are terrific. I went from two CVO Ultras (2008 and 2012) to a 2016 RG Special. I have true duals, SE Super Tuner, Lowers, etc. I love this bike and for the first time am not interested in what i'm sure would be an upgrade. That said, I don't think I will seriously consider a change until Harley upgrades its infotainment and nav. I suspect that within a year or two, the M8's will have a state of the art entertainment and nav system. Here's hoping.

I still don't get why folks like you are so obsessed with starting threads just to say that you're not going to buy a 17. If you're happy with your bike great who gives two $^/!s whether you're going to upgrade or not?

I thinks it's more different, than it is a big improvement. I don't notice the difference in suspension at all, but I've also been happy with the Ultra's suspension. If you have a phone, or a go pro mounted on the bars, I can see the smoother engine being a big deal. I would probably be one of those people, taking the savings and snapping up a 16, rather than buying a 17. I'm normally an early adopter, so it feels weird to not want the latest and greatest. I guess, I am so happy with what I have, that not having the latest technology doesn't bother me.... Who am I & what happened to me!????

The thread starter was about using the term "vast" to describe the improvements on the M8. Some of us with non M8 Rushmores don't see it as vast. But I think everyone agrees it's an improvement. The real question for Rushmore owners is - Does the new powerplant provide enough incentive to trade in a perfectly good bike plus a bunch of cash?

For many - yes. For me - no. But I do like the M8 bikes. Why wouldn't I? I love my bike and it's basically the same thing with a stronger motor.

I can see someone with a pre Rushmore bike making the jump for sure. I would say the differences there at least approach "vast".

If that's not enough - we can have endless discussion on where one should put their gas cap, so..........
