Does anyone know if our Boom Navi system has a detour function?
On more than one occasion, I've come across road closures for construction, wildfires, police activity, etc., and having a way to get the Navi to plot an alternate route would be helpful.
On my Garmin, there's a handy "detour" button to do just that. Sadly our Boom Navi, while functional, is no Garmin.
The operator's manual was no help. Anyone know if this is possible?
If you leave your original route the Harley NAV automatically plots a "detour" to keep you headed to your destination. That is assuming you have a "destination" already entered. I am not familiar with Garmin.
Don't know of a detour function. You can use the skip next waypoint feature and it should calculate a route to the next waypoint, which may be different than your original routing. However, it's not guaranteed that it will route you around the area or accident site which caused the need to detour in the first place. At least that's my understanding, having used Boombox navigation only 10 times...
First, if you have XM travel and there is a road problem. travel will detour you.
Absent that, if you are on a road that has a issue (and you have a destination plotted), you should see the next road on your screen (maneuvers). Press the road and your maneuvers will show up.
Next, press the street you are having an issue with and when you do, it will give you an option to avoid that road.
Once avoided, your route will be recalculated. If you have to avoid several roads, do the same thing.

As long as you have Traffic subscription. This usually not included in the standard XM package, but is available for an additional cost. Without that than i believe all you have are the standard maps without real time information.
Didn't know about the traffic subscription. All I'm seeing is the standard maps.
I have the traffic subscription. The XM also includes the weather. Actually, I got it for the weather - and use the traffic just as an added bonus.
Weather maps has helped me a lot when traveling. On a recent return trip, the traffic came in handy. Traffic told me the road was really blocked - I got off and followed their directions. Doing so, I was able to catch up with a group that left our starting point almost 2 hors before me.
