I noticed when using the passenger/rider intercom system it lowers the Sirius radio volume, or Media volume, even when not talking into the microphone. Is there a way to use a PTT Button to use it, instead of using voice activation function to use it?
Yes - you can completely turn the vox off and when you do, you have to press the PTT switch to communicate.
Now, having said that, my bet is your vox is up pretty high and by it being that high, the wind is breaking vox and cutting the music off. Go to the vox setting and see where you are. My experience shows that maybe 4 bars from the left work pretty good. You can experiment with this to see what works best for you.
also be aware that if disable the VOX by going all the way to the left, when you press the PTT button for intercom, whatever you are saying will go out over the CB, if you have one and it's turned on.
